STASERA, 12 Maggio, al Madison Square Garden di New York, JORGES “ el nino de oro” LINARES vs VASIL “hi-tech” LOMACHENKO per il titolo WBA Super World dei Pesi Leggeri.
Salto di categoria per LOMA, dai Pesi Super Piuma ai Leggeri, lo strepitoso ucraino che infiamma i fans, vs il venezuelano JORGE LINARES, probabilmente questa sera, sarà davvero al reset della sua carriera. Passare di categoria di peso è un’esigenza fisica per molti pugili. Spesso lo si fa per ragioni economiche.
LOMA spettacolare atleta, pluri medagliato nei dilettanti, ormai dopo 11 match da solido professionista, ha asfaltato la categoria dei Super Piuma, dunque se è vero che la massa muscolare con il passare degli anni diventa più pesante, è vero che la borsa più ricca è in questo caso nella divisione superiore.
Al Madison Square Garden si annuncia una bella sfida nell’arena newyorchese, prestigio di eventi internazionali, e BOB ARUM veterano e solido boss della TOP RANK, l’organizzazione più longeva della storia della boxe contemporanea, al solito ha fatto le cose in grande.
Ho avuto più volte modo di intervistare BOB ARUM, avvocato di New York, trasferitosi in California da ormai molti anni. In una delle volte alla mia videocamera, gli porsi una domanda a me affascinante, già perché le sfide nella boxe non sono solo sul ring…:
“Qual è la differenza tra te BOB ARUM e DON KING?”
BOB ARUM con la calma interiore del passare degli anni, ne avrà 87 il prossimo dicembre, ma con l’entusiasmo gioviale di sempre:
“Penso che la gente deve dare il proprio giudizio.
Io credo nel promuovere l’incontro, promuovere i pugili e non promuovere me stesso.
KING crede che ha più successo quando attira l’attenzione su di sé quando promuove se stesso.
Sono stili differenti. Io penso di avere un miglior rapporto con i pugili di lui. I pugili lo accusano di non essere pagati abbastanza, tu non sentirai mai dire questo dai nostri pugili, noi siamo differenti.”
ARUM ha sempre cercato curiosato, promosso i giovani pugili che provengono da nazioni diverse, dove il talento per essere conosciuto ha bisogno della grande ribalta americana, lui ha aperto le porte a chiunque avesse il gran talento per la boxe e ha creato leggendarie sfide, dato carriere esaltanti a Campioni immensi. È certamente il più ricco businessman, di tutte le organizzazioni di boxe di tutto il mondo.
E allora se questo match stasera si disputa al Madison Square Garden è perché i due contendenti sono di assoluta qualità. JORGES “ el nino de oro” LINARES, già Campione WBA in tre categorie di peso: i Pesi Piuma, poi Super Piuma e oggi dei Leggeri. Improvvisamente, il venezuelano a 26 anni sembrava finito, perde un paio di match che spengono l’entusiasmo per EL NINO DE ORO. Ora con 13 match vinti consecutivamente e questa opportunità, la vera motivazione di tornare a regnare, confrontandosi con l’eccelso LOMA, è una occasione unica. Gran tecnico il venezuelano vs l’ucraino VASYL LOMACHENKO che invece è anche tecnico ma in più imprevedibile e questo certo, appassiona la moltitudine di fans e metterà in chiaro chi è la “star”.
Stanotte il pubblico del Madison sarà da cult per LOMA, è già la terza volta che chiude da spettacolo, l’ultimo è stato tristissimo, ha messo fine la carriera del talentuoso, ma ormai “vecchio” cubano GUILLERMO “El Chachal” RIGONDEAUX.
LINARES anche lui ha umiliato in casa britannica ben due contendenti di spessore: KEVIN MITCHELL e ANTHONY CROLLA, prima di risorgere.
LINARES ha una mente aggressiva. LOMACHENKO più intuitiva.
Questa sera un match da non perdere, sarà una dance acrobatica, scatenata a ritmo forsennato, ma disciplinata, sono ambedue due corretti competitor, e come ci si aspetta nei Pesi Leggeri tutto è nel gioco di gambe e nei colpi a velocità istantanea, uniforme e senza limite. Questo dovrebbe essere il sapore della disputa.
Il mio pronostico? Sono una donna intuitiva, di solito ci azzecco. LOMACHENKO via KO!

E oggi 13 Maggio, tutti e due gli sfidanti erano pari nei cartellini dei giudici, e poi VASYL LOMACHENKO castiga via KO JORGE LINARES al 10 round, con il colpo più bello, il colpo al fegato! Mio padre GIANCARLO GARBELLI, ne era maestro! …oggi VASYL è 3 volte campione del mondo WBA.
L’ho scritto, la mia intuizione funziona …dai, va bene, ci vuole profonda conoscenza della nobile arte.
Come sempre non era scontato. Il KO silenzia ogni dubbio. Nell’ultima foto plastico LOMACHENKO colpisce con un sinistro al corpo e LINARES è al tappeto. Grande Fighter LOMACHENKO!

Change of division for LOMACHENKO, from Super Feather Weight to Light Weight, the amazing Ukrainian who inflames the fans, vs the Venezuelan JORGE LINARES, probably tonight, will be really at the reset of his career. Going up in the weight division is a physical need for many boxers. Often it’s for economic reasons. ARUM has always looked curious, promoted the young boxers coming from different nations, where the talent to be known needs the American spotlight, he has opened the doors to anyone with great talent for boxing and has created legendary challenges, given exciting careers, to immense champions. He is certainly the richest businessman of all boxing organizations in the the world.
So if this fight happens tonight at Madison Square Garden it’s because the two contenders are high quality. JORGES “el nino de oro” LINARES, already WBA Champion in three weight division, Feather, then Super Feather and today Light Weights. At his 26-year-old Venezuelan seemed all of the sudden done, he lost a couple of matches that turn off the enthusiasm for EL NINO DE ORO. Now with 13 matches won consecutively and this opportunity, the real motivation to return to reign, confronting the sublime LOMACHENKO, is a unique opportunity.
The Venezuelan versus the Ukrainian VASYL LOMACHENKO is about one technical fighter, on the other hand is technical too, but more unpredictable and sure, both can put on a show for the multitude of fans and makes clear who is the “star”.
Tonight the public of Madison will be a cult for LOMA, is already the third time that the closes the show, the last one was sad, he ended the career of the talented, but too old Cuban GUILLERMO “El Chachal” RIGONDEAUX.

And today May 13th, both challengers were even at the scorecards, then VASYL LOMACHENKO punishing via KO JORGE LINARES in 10 round…with the best shot to the body, to the liver! (see the pic above) My Father GIANCARLO GARBELLI was a Master of that shot! …now VASYL is 3times WBA World Champion.
I wrote it, my intuition works… well OK it need to be boxing conoscendi, it wasn’t so obvious as always in the sweet science. The Knock Out silences any doubt.
