L’intesa per il match questa sera tra Queensberry Promotion/TOP RANK e K2 Promotion probabilmente non sarebbe mai avvenuta per via delle richieste economiche assurde di TYSON FURY, assurde in termini di percentuali, insomma The Gipsy King ha sempre creduto di avere più valore del grande Atleta Ucraino USYK. Ma va là…
TYSON FURY con un talento d’intrattenitore che può essere esilarante, non può essere il più che determina il valore economico di una borsa con il titolo di INDISCUSSO in palio.
Riconosco e l’ho sempre fatto al grande TYSON FURY i suoi meriti, e nel ring e fuori dal ring. Ma negli ultimi anni l’ingordigia ha preso il sopravvento.
Mi viene in mente un caro amico della grande Boxe, un vero intenditore e pozzo di cultura il Premio Oscar BUDD SCHULBERG, editorialista di Boxe per Sport Illustrated, che incontravo appunto ai grandi match in USA, e a una mia domanda se PRIMO CARNERA fosse stato un grande Peso Massimo. …Non vi sembri io ingenua…CARNERA è stato un mito nei suoi anni migliori, l‘Alpe che Cammina un vero gigante per l’epoca con i suoi 200 cm e con un peso che oscillava dai 110-130KG. La mia domanda l’ho cercata nei ricordi di bambina, in Italia siamo tutti cresciuti con le nonne, le zie, le mamme che ci dicevano “mangia, mangia che diventi grande come Carnera…” e continua anche oggi. É ormai un modo di dire.
SCHULBERG che ha vissuto i bordo ring di PRIMO CARNERA mi rispose: no, no CARNERA è stato il più grosso, ma non il più grande! Ecco come mi appare in questa notte fantastica il britannico TYSON FURY, un nipote di PRIMO CARNERA. Un pò giullare che ispirava le grandi penne perché le sue imprese sul ring venivano da un profondo malessere. Nulla a che fare con i problemi di salute mentale che ha attraversato e che probabilmente non hanno mai abbandonato TYSON FURY, ma un secolo fa la boxe era un mondo decisamente più duro e feroce.
E le migliore penne erano dei veri ritrattisti con enfasi per palati fini. SCHULBERG scrisse un libro il cui titolo dice molto: SPARRING WITH HEMINGWAY… Insomma chi scriveva le gesta degli impavidi Campioni del Ring, si immedesimava a tal punto da creare casi letterali e cinematografici che rimangono nella storia.
Ieri al peso FURY 206 cm., con 15 cm in più di altezza, pesa 120 KG circa, 14 Kg in più rispetto a USYK che misura 191cm e pesa 106 KG circa. Stando al ragionamento di SCHULBERG, TYSON FURY. risulta è il più grosso. Sarà il più Grande? Sarà lui l’indiscusso e imbattuto Peso Massimo dopo 25 anni da quella notte che ha incoronato LENNOX LEWIS?
Dopo aver visto dal vivo OLEKSANDR USYK a Wroclaw lo scorso 26 agosto 23, non ho mai smesso di credere che per “il Cosacco Ucraino” si avverasse il sogno di questo gran finale di carriera. Anche se tutti, proprio tutti sostenevano che “The Gypsi King” non avrebbe mai accettato, ci stava prendendo tutti in giro.
E ora invece questa notte stellare che solo un anno fa era impossibile da ipotizzare si materializza. É apparso TURKI ALALSHIKH, presidente della General Entertainment Authority dell’Arabia Saudita, e per questo evento stellare, ha usato tutto il suo potere per dare nuova linfa alla Grande Boxe che sembrava in difficoltà a far quadrare i conti. Eh certo e che conti…! Gli eventi di Boxe condensano Sport/Intrattenimento e Cultura.
Si dice che stanotte ballano 100 milioni di $. Vuol dire che a conti fatti si tratta di oltre il doppio.
Il combattimento tanto anelato tra due Pesi Massimi FURY vs USYK, loro così diversi, per cultura, estrazione sociale, e per il momento storico che viviamo, si incontreranno per il titolo unificato dei Pesi Massimi in questa notte di sabato.
E comunque andrà, avrà un unico gran Campione conquistatore, “INDISCUSSO” di tutte e 4 le Cinture. Io ci metto anche la 5° The Ring Magazine, un po’ di storia la “bibbia del pugilato” l’ha scritta… L’ultima volta che è successo un evento di tale portata, appunto tutte le Cinture Mondiali in una notte in palio dei Pesi Massimi è stato nel 1999 tra LENNOX LEWIS vs EVANDER HOLYFIELD. Ci sono volute due notti: il 13 marzo 1999 e poi il 13 novembre 1999, per definire LENNOX LEWIS “INDISCUSSO” Campione del Mondo dei Pesi Massimi: il Re Leone!
USYK in tutto il tour dei media si è prestato al gioco di FURY e lo ho gasato. Ho osservato bene USYK, sembra divertirsi, ma lui non è lì solo per combattere per il titolo di “INDISCUSSO” Campione dei Pesi Massimi, la categoria di peso più importante perché si tratta appunto di uno scontro fra titani. I colpi che volano pesano almeno tanto quanto il loro stesso peso fisico.
OLEKSANDR “il Cosacco Ucraino” USYK, lui è in missione.
USYK ha un fisico perfetto, sano, ben scolpito.
Sul ring l’ucraino USYK 37 anni, colpirà le parti vulnerabili dove lo cicatrici di FURY si apriranno, sarà un match sanguinoso.
Il suo sguardo catalizzatore è significativo del suo gioco mentale.
Credo che con il suo ritmo da fondista, e con l’abilità di un mancino che sa essere anche ortodosso, cercherà quel colpo al fegato per far cadere al tappeto il britannico TYSON FURY.
USYK oltre ad essere un grande tecnico e non basterebbe a superare TYSON, ha nel cuore l’Ucraina. Ma quanto vale per il popolo ucraino questa vittoria del suo “Cosacco Ucraino”?
Molto. Vale moltissimo perché conferma la determinazione di un popolo – l’Ucraina- a non farsi sopprimere.
È la boxe bellezza, non è un gioco.
FURY, 35 anni, non ha mai incontrato uno come USYK che ha dato prova di battere colossi con muscoli tirati a lucido, vedi ANTHONY JOSHUA che vinto nettamente ben due volte.
Penso che TYSON FURY sarà esausto dopo 5/6 round.
Il ring ha insegnato a USYK la resilienza, la strategia e, soprattutto, l’importanza di visualizzare la vittoria, non per nulla è il simbolo dei nostri giorni, “il Cosacco Ucraino”. Un eredità, un lascito prezioso dei Fratelli KLITSCHKO a proseguire il percorso verso la meta.
Il manager di OLEKSANDR USYK, EGIS KLIMAS con cui ho parlato a Wroclaw la scorsa estate, mi disse che ha da sempre sostenuto per il suo Campione la stessa tesi, sapeva bene che arrivare alle Cinture unificate nei Pesi Cruiser era un grande obiettivo e lo hanno raggiunto.
Ma il traguardo più ostinato era questo di questa notte di Riad, dei Pesi Massimi, perché la fiducia che potesse avverarsi non era sostenuto da quella gran parte dei fan.
Insomma lui, KLIMAS che ha vissuto USYK da quando ha vinto le Olimpiadi di Londra nel 2012, il disegno della carriera lo avuto chiaro sin da subito, riunificare e conquistare le 4 Cinture dei Pesi Massimi, come proprio avverrà questa notte sul ring di Riad.
Non un sogno impossibile se si pensa che LENNOX LEWIS immenso Dilettante, Medaglia d’Oro Pesi Super Massimi Olimpiadi di Seul 1988, ha conquistato il titolo iINDISCUSSO” delle 4 Cinture da un eccelsa Medaglia di Bronzo dei Pesi Massimi Leggeri alle Olimpiadi di Los Angeles 1984: EVANDER “the real deal” HOLYFIELD.
