ANCORA TANTI GIORNI FELICI MAESTRO GIANNI CLERICI!

Mi vede in lacrime.

Avevo scoperto Million $$$ Baby.

MANY MORE HAPPY DAYS MAESTRO GIANNI CLERICI!

In one of my trips to London for certain interviews with boxing champions that I had planned, I was invited by the duo Rino Tommasi and Gianni Clerici for the tennis final in Wimbledon! I had been to the US Open in New York, never in Wimbledon, and that fantastic London night, they confirmed themselves as champions who will sculpt the history of world tennis: Roger Federer and Venus and Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

The event spent with this fantastic couple of healthy laughs, and intelligent dialectic, of cultured sports knowledge of Tennis, lived from a privileged position was exhilarating, with their curtains, Tommasi-Clerici, for Sky Italia just born, so they did the live broadcast, they absorbed me, incredibly involved in their humor, between the news, culture and high school lightness, freshness of never banal topics. Clerici was the bricklayer, Tommasi the shoulder. Clerici was madly in love with Venus Williams. Tommasi for Maria Sharapova. All three went crazy for Roger Federer’s talent.

Clerici’s kindness, experience, and roar were the canvas from which to expand the impromptu conversation, while the sets of the tournament took place on the field.

The next day we all have the same flight to Milano. We meet in a central bookshop, Barnes Noble, as usual, I go to the shelves of boxing writers, and I am attracted among many, a couple of boxing books, in fact, I buy them.

During the flight, the duo Tommasi and Clerici are sitting in business class, me in the economy.

I start reading Rope Burns by F.X Toole. Tommasi comes to chat about boxing. He sees me in tears. Surprised and worried, he asks me a thousand questions. Sigh: “This book is so intense that I feel the blows … get to the heart. I don’t want to finish it, I can devour it, but I have to read it slowly when I like a book I dilate the reading times. It’s a great script. “

I had discovered Million $$$ Baby. The following year, Clint Eastwood made the Oscar-winning film.
