MI DISPIACE della notizia degli incendi devastanti nelle valli di NAPA e SONOMA in California. Qua sono con i miei carissimi Amici, Sam Daikin, Mary Ianniccheri suo padre, Albert Ianniccheri e il Console Generale d’Italia a San Francisco, Sebastiano Salvatori e sua moglie Mariella. Siamo a NAPA e SONOMA in una delle mie estati indimenticabili…Invitata alla premiere del Winery Film Festival con il mio film: TENTAZIONI METROPOLITANE era il caldo luglio del 1999, nel Parco di Jack London a Glen Ellen tra le valli di NAPA e SONOMA, dove immensi campi sono state coltivati a vigneti, dagli emigranti Italiani del Friuli, Lombardia e del Piemonte, qui portarono le radici delle loro uve e hanno costruito l’impero americano del vino. Non è buono come quello nostro italiano ci vorrà almeno un secolo, ma hanno fatto un gran lavoro per avvicinarsi al nostro. Ci vuole il tempo…
Quanto agli incendi ho sentito Mary e suo papà Albert, persone meravigliose e ci siamo lasciate con: ” i boschi ricresceranno…”Per fortuna non ci sono stati morti.
Come andò al Festival quell’estate del 1999? Ho vinto quale miglior Opera Prima Internazionale e come miglior attrice. La sera della proiezione è stata magica, il pubblico ha acceso gli accendini e poi un lungo applauso. Un abbraccio così entusiasmante…indimenticabile. Ho proseguito a settembre per l’istituto Italiano di Cultura, a Los Angeles. Un successone! E ancora ad aprile del 2000, proiezione speciale a Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò a New York con il regista messicano, mio grande supporter: Alfonso Arau. Grande sorpresa per la mia energia in un tema così impegnativo. Se non è difficile…non m’interessa! Ah!

Remembering NAPA and SONOMA VALLEY
I AM SORRY to hear about the devastating fires in the NAPA and SONOMA valleys in California. I am here with my dear friends, Sam Daikin, Mary Ianniccheri, her father, Albert Ianniccheri, and the Consul General of Italy in San Francisco, Sebastiano Salvatori, and his wife, Mariella. We are in NAPA and SONOMA in one of my unforgettable summers… I was invited to the premiere of the Winery Film Festival with my film: TENTAZIONI METROPOLITANE. It was the hot July of 1999, in Jack London’s Glen Ellen Park between the NAPA and SONOMA valleys, where immense fields were cultivated with vineyards by Italian immigrants from Friuli, Lombardy, and Piedmont. They brought their grapes here and built the American wine empire. It’s not as good as our Italian wine; it will take at least a century, but they have done a great job of getting close to ours. It takes time…
As for the fires, I spoke to Mary and her father, Albert, wonderful people, and we parted ways with the words: “The forests will grow back.” Luckily, there were no deaths.
How did the Festival go that summer of 1999? I won Best International First Feature and Best Actress. The evening of the screening was magical; the audience lit their lighters afterward, followed by a long round of applause. Such an emotional embrace…unforgettable. In, September, I continued to the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles. A resounding success! And again, in April 2000, a special screening at Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò in New York with Mexican director Alfonso Arau, my great supporter. I was so surprised by my energy in such a challenging subject. If it’s not difficult… I don’t care! Ah!
