SERGIY DEREVYANCHENKO 34 anni il prossimo 31 ottobre, una lunga carriera da dilettante, troppo direi. Solo dal 2014 è pro con 14 match, di cui uno discutibilmente perso contro l’americano DANILE JACOBS, un anno fa nello stesso Madison Square Garden. Nel senso che poteva anche vincerlo tanto il match è stato equilibrato.

DEREVYANCHENKO per ben due volte potenziale rivale sia di CANELO che di GGG, entrambi lo hanno sottovalutato. Del resto DEREVYANCHENKO è in sostanza un buon tecnico, non appetibile al grande pubblico perché prevedibile.
Mentre CANELO da Peso Medio ha spostato l’attenzione sulla disputa ai Pesi Medio Massimi contro SERGEY KOVALEV. Poco importa davvero, il business del ring non si ferma perché CANELO evita la sua bestia nera, appunto GOLOVKIN. Del resto il più pagato atleta sulla terra, deve pur osare qualche entusiasmo, qualche eccitazione agli abbonati della nuova DAZN, che lo ha pagato e così GGG, ironicamente il più grande Medio contemporaneo è stato contrattualizzato a molto meno, perché più vecchio. GGG ha 37 anni, ed è inevitabilmente atleta in discesa, ma molto più affidabile di CANELO.

Spessissimo non è il verdetto che fa la storia, ma le vicende che si scatenano intorno al match che rende di fatto affascinante il nostro sport. E ancora meno sono le cinture, declinate in troppi, intermedie, oro, franchising, super, unificate, interim ecc … Eh dai ci vuole una cintura per ogni categoria di peso…! Le quattro cinture più credibili devono creare una finalisssima che dia un unico campione del mondo.
E questo campione del mondo deve rimetterle in discussione… nella stessa categoria, non volare in altri lidi come sta facendo CANELO, che continua come ha iniziato la sua carriera, approfittando di campioni al limite del fine carriera come appunto è SERGEY KOVALEV, grande nella categoria dei Pesi Massimi Leggeri, ma non ha lo stesso mercato, né dei Pesi Welter o dei Pesi Medi e ancor meno dei Pesi Massimi.

Cosa non si è inventato CANELO con il suo promotor OSCAR DE LAHOYA, pur di non far succedere il 3 ° match della trilogia tra GGG vs CANELO, che metterebbe a tacere tutti gli enormi dubbi sul messicano.

E allora non si può che prevedere, parlare, scrivere di match di ordinario livello, di routine: l’uno verso DEMETRIUS ANDRADE per il titolo WBO e l’altro JERMALL CHARLO per il titolo WBC. Nessuno dei due avversari ha la classe e la potenza di GGG.
Intanto che la cintura WBA in tutte le zuppe e la cintura franchising WBC (ma perché? Sic ..) rimangono in vita a CANELO.

GGG GOLOVKIN vince ai punti in un match equilibrato, ma decisamente vincente per GOLOVKIN. DEREVYANCHENKO ha subito dal kazako un knockdown nel 1° round. GGG ha aperto un taglio intorno all’occhio destro di DEREVYANCHENKO con un gancio sinistro schiacciante nel 2°round,
DEREVYANCHENKO ha resistito a questi rallentamenti, e ha regalato una prestazione epica contro uno dei pugni più punitivi nella storia della boxe contemporanea.
Molto bello il lavoro di Golovkin con colpi puliti e accurati sulla testa e sul corpo dell’ucraino, ma ogni volta che riesce a mettere a segno una combinazione, DEREVYANCHENKO è veloce nel rispondere. Alta tensione in tutti i rounds. Il match dell’anno! I tre cartellini hanno totalizzato 114-113, 115-112, 115-112.

Great fight! The face of DEREVYANCHENKO tells you all… Both faces in fact!
GGG wins on points in a close decision, definitely won by GGG. DEREVYANCHENKO was the one knockdown in the 1st round. GGG opened a cut around DEREVYANCHENKO’s right eye with a crushing left hook in the third round.
DEREVYANCHENKO endured those setbacks to produce an epic performance against one of the most punishing punchers in contemporary boxing history.
Very nice work from GOLOVKIN with clean accurate punches to the head and body, but every time he’s able to land in combination DEREVYANCHENKO is very fast in response. High tension in all bout. The fight of the year! Scorecards were 114-113, 115-112, 115-112.
