Non sono due attori. Sono di più, molto di più sono i Protagonisti di quella notte drammatica. Nel rivivere il loro match questi due immensi protagonisti il padrone di casa della 56ma WBC convention a Kiev, VITALI KLITSCHKO e l’inglese LENNOX LEWIS, rendono il senso della competizione estrema, che c’è in ogni grande match che han segnato la storia di questo nostro Nobile Sport.
Entrambi indossano i guantoni, sotto una luce d’atmosfera teatrale, sullo sfondo il drammatico match del 2003 allo Staple Center di Los Angeles.
Il match incompiuto… non proprio la Turandot di Puccini
VITALI non voleva lasciare il match incompiuto… Scambi verbali incisivi che puntualizzano i colpi dell’uno e dell’altro: ganci, uppercut, destri, sinistri, jabs, insomma lancio di bombe letali da entrambi.
Come vedete nel video, ad un certo punto sale sul palco e interviene l’uomo che ha fermato il match alla fine del 6° round, il dottor Paul Wallace che è capo della commissione medica per la WBC, e quella sera era il medico del ring. E qui rircorda:
“È chiaro che questo è stata una guerra per il titolo dei Pesi Massimi, un grande match, il più feroce. Quel taglio profondo, al sopracciglio di VITALI troppo infossato per essere riparato a bordo ring. VITALI ha combattuto da grande campione, ma quello che so, è che hai dato la tua vista per quella Cintura Verde, ma quello che so di più nel mio cuore e nel mio insegnamento, è che tu avresti dovuto avere un altro giorno, un’altra opportunità di combattere. Chi poteva saperlo, potevi diventare un Sindaco, un Presidente chi poteva dirlo… Ma non quella sera!…”
Il pubblico applaude, la battuta ci sta, ora che VITALI KLITSCHKO è il Sindaco di KIEV.
Vince il Pugilato!
Per entrambi è stato il match più duro delle loro rispettive carriere, tra i due più potenti Pesi Massimi. Fantastico scambio tra i due giganti Gentlemen. LENNOX con il suo destro potente e VITALI KLITSCHKO, fenomeno di forza e potenza, e sembra avere quell’intuzione di saper leggere nella mente del rivale.
Questi due?
I migliori Pesi Massimi degli ultimi 20 anni, grandissimi per la Storia di tutto il Pugilato Mondiale. I Fratelli KLITSCHKO, entrambi mai davvero considerati dalla TV americana, così da risaltare, a proteggere i propri campioni. Solo tardi, gli han dato la considerazione dovuta, ormai visibile a tutto il resto del mondo.
Peccato davvero non ci sia mai stata la rivincita che i fans per anni hanno reclamato.
Ma la Famiglia della Boxe è così ovunque: acerrimi rivali sul ring, poi i protagonisti hanno solo parole di riconoscimento, più è stato forte il rivale, più ha avvalorato la grandezza dell’altro.
Eh sì questi due ragazzoni possono intimidere! Ma i Campioni di Boxe sono chi più, chi meno veri Gentlemen!
Dal 2004 al 2008 VITALI è stato fermo per seri problemi alla schiena, ha subito tre interventi. Tornato sul ring ha disputato 12 incontri, vinti tutti in perla all’altro via KO! Difendendo sempre il titolo della Cintura WBC Pesi Massimi. Anche se non siamo VITALI KLITSCHKO…Mai mollare!

Both wear gloves, under a theatrical light atmosphere, in the background of the dramatic fight back in 2003 at the Staple Center in Los Angeles.
The unfinished fight … not really Puccini’s Turandot

The KLITSCHKO Brothers, both never really considered by American TV, to be sure to protect their own champions. Only late, they gave them due consideration, when visible to the rest of the world.
