Due veterani che sanno mettersi in gioco per l’infinito pubblico di tutto il mondo, in un’arena internazionale che vuole cazzotti  a segno, ben mirati e se possibile uno per tutti che toglie ogni dubbio, quello inaspettato, improvviso, letale, il colpo del KO!

Il migliore PACQUIAO, il più grande campione contemporaneo è ancora in gioco, e come è giusto a fine carriera va dal suo pubblico di casa, la Malesia confina con le Filippine, così la sua gente lo sosterrà in moltitudine se possibile ancora più coinvolti, in una notte che si preannuncia stellare per le bombe che voleranno tra la superstar PACQUAIO vs MATTHYSSE, lasciando graffi sulla pelle, ferite d’orgoglio che entrambi i campioni sanno bene incassare. E sino a quando non scende dal ring definitivamente, nessuno gli può togliere il titolo di più grande campione contemporaneo. E poi PACQUIAO è uno che riempie il cuore di emozioni, da vibrazioni positive. Non ha ancora chiuso la carriera ed è già tra gli immortali della Storia della Grande Boxe.

Il Senatore della Repubblica delle Filippine ha regalato batticuore, trepidazione, cardiopalma, anche adesso che a fine carriera potrebbe sfangarla come ha fatto FLOYD MAYWEATHER jr. vs CONOR MCGREGOR (uno che mai aveva fatto boxe prima), appunto l’anno scorso di questi tempi, con una gran pagliacciata, molto lucrosa, ma rimane una performance relegata per i tipi da farsa nella scadente sottomarca dello sport da combattimento: UFC,  tante sparate verbali, nulla di fatto sul ring.

Invece il grande filippino PACQUIAO, lui  sì che rende onore sino in fondo alla Grande Boxe, alla Nobile Arte, alla sua stessa grandezza mettendosi in gioco sino all’ultimo secondo dell’ultimo round che DIO gli darà, con tutta  la forza e  la volontà di combattere. DIO non è una mia citazione casuale. È fervente cattolico MANNY PACQUAIO. All’angolo del ring, prega prima del match e dopo il match s’inginocchia e ringrazio il nostro stesso DIO cattolico, da buon cristiano. PACQUIAO è stato, ed  è esemplare atleta che fa pensare, anche per chi non ama particolarmente la boxe, è impossibile non farsi trascinare e rimanere incantati dalle sue epiche imprese. Mette d’accordo tutti, non rappresenta solo la bandiera delle Filippine, la boxe quando ha grandi performer come appunto

PACQUIAO, non richiama solo il patriottismo, e il tifo nazionale, ma comprende l’essenza della migliore umanità, proprio per tutto il sapere, il sacrificio che la boxe ha nel suo DNA. E per la rarità di simili campioni, ovunque nascono diventano simboli.

E sino a quando le sue gambe terranno “ah le gambe sono tutto in un pugile”, mi ripeteva mio padre GIANCARLO GARBELLI  –”la potenza dei pugni si sprigiona dalle gambe!”  Eh che gambe il GARBELLI! Eh che gambe PACQUIAO! Ho spesso paragonato il nostro più grande campione di boxe di sempre, GARBELLI, al grande filippino PACQUIAO, per la padronanza, i riflessi accesi, la spettacolarità, la mobilità, la potenza, l’orgoglio, la disciplina, la resistenza e la simpatia…Vincere e perdere con il sorriso sulle labbra, è classe pura. Campioni così danno tutto per il pubblico, non per i giudici, non sempre cristallini i punteggi nei loro cartellini. E poi il nostro GARBELLI con quelle riflessioni filosofiche…e senza mai aver subito un KO… in 99 match!
Domenica prossima nell’arena AXIATA, ci sarà un giudice che ha un’ottima reputazione, imparziale il greco / sud africano Stanley Christodoulou. Invisibile terzo uomo sul ring, negli ultimi 20 anni al centro di titaniche sfide.

Il filippino ha incontrato tutti quelli che c’erano da affrontare, non ha mai evitato nessuno. L’argentino decisamente un palmares più normale. Dicevo, se PACQUIAO ha ancora quella bella mobilità di gambe, quella velocità sorprendente di tessere una ragnatela in lampi fulminei incendiari,  ben poco riuscirà fare il campione argentino. LUCAS MATTHYSSE anche detto “la macchina”, non è nemmeno lui più una primizia e le macchine con il tempo hanno ingranaggi che si rallentano, e anche arrugginiscono.

Questo è il mio pronostico: MATTHYSSE ha un fantastico colpo da Knock Out, ma nulla di più davvero. Ci proverà tutta la notte…puoi scommetterci! Tutti e due amano il corpo a corpo e allora sarà uno swing, dove la batteria, come in un assolo di JOHN “bonzo” BONHAM, sarà il miglior assolo a rimbombare nell’arena asiatica di Kuala Lumpur, con il KO di PACMAN per un’ovazione indimenticabile…per il brutale eco del bang… firmato dal leggendario mancino MANNY PACQUIAO. Senza più  conti  in sospeso.

E il sipario di una strepitosa carriera sportiva, per la Storia della Grande Boxe si può chiudere per il Senatore filippino MANNY PACQUIAO. E certo lascia da ambasciatore per il suo popolo filippino, al mondo dello sport della boxe,  al mondo intero dello Sport, indelebile traccia da grande Leader d’ispirazione.

I have often compared our greatest Italian boxing champion ever, GARBELLI, to the Filipino PACQUIAO, for his mastery, his brilliant reflexes, his spectacularity, his mobility, his power, his pride, his discipline, his stamina and his sympathy… Winning and lose with the smile on the lips, it is pure class. Champions like this  give everything for the public, not for the judges, as they are not always cristal clear in their scorecards. Next Sunday at the AXIATA arena in Kuala Lumpur, there will a judge who has a very good reputation to be impartial the Greek/South African Stanley Christodoulou. Invisible third man in the ring, since last 20 years at the center of titanic challenges.
