Questa sera a Milano al Pala Lido, o meglio dire ALLIANZ CLOUD, il detentore della cintura Titolo Europeo, l’italo/belga, il 26enne FRANCESCO PATERA vs MIRKO VALENTINO, Campione Italiano, per la Cintura del Titolo Europeo dei Pesi Leggeri.
Un’occasione unica, grande per MIRKO VALENTINO.

Ci sono romanzi su i grandi campioni pro di tutte le categorie: Johnson, Joe Louis, Ray Robinson, Jake LaMotta, Ray Leonard, Giancarlo Garbelli…sino al nostro si dice miglior Peso Leggero Anacleto Locatelli, morto clochard a Parigi…
MIRKO VALENTINO CON I SOGNI D’ORO IN TESTA…
Ma MIRKO VALENTINO ha vissuto il miglior tempo dei Dilettanti in Italia, conquistando l’Oro proprio a Milano ai Campionati Mondiali Dilettanti dieci anni fa, era il 2009, durante la gloriosa kermesse di AIBA 2009. Quando l’AIBA sembrava avere il mondo dei Dilettanti in mano e non era immaginabile cosa sarebbe diventato oggi: un Ente ormai destinato alla scomparsa per corruzione.
I Campioni non si toccano, le medaglie sono conquistate tutte sul Ring. E MIRKO VALENTINO ricorda con un pizzico di nostalgia gli anni d’oro dei Campionati a Chicago 2007, Beijing 2008, e appunto AIBA 2009 qui a Milano…quando nel mondo hanno condiviso in categorie diverse, i migliori podi di tutte le manifestazioni, lui DOMENICO alias MIRKO VALENTINO, ROBERTO CAMMARELLE e CLEMENTE RUSSO.
Ho sempre pensato e detto che per quella generazione di grandi dilettanti come appunto è stato MIRKO VALENTINO non passare pro era un insulto alla Grande Boxe, un’occasione incredibilmente persa se si pensa che i campioni pro di oggi, sono passati tra le mani dei nostri Cammarelle e Russo, vedi Povetkin, Joshua, Wilder e Usyk. Tutti hanno conquistato il titolo mondiale nei professionisti oltre ad essere medagliati alle Olimpiadi. E guadagnano milioni di $$$$$$$$$$.
I nostri ragazzi, gli atleti di quei magici anni, non hanno avuto gli attributi…per lasciare l’Italia, e mettersi sul mercato internazionale dei pro.
Già, in Italia mancavano i grandi organizzatori, ma non la materia prima i Campioni. E del resto il mondo dei Dilettanti prima del tracollo era d’oro, sponsor, soldi e impiego sicuro.

Il pugilato in Italia fa parte dei corpi di Polizia di Stato e Polizia Penitenziaria, è rischioso lasciare un lavoro sicuro, per l’incerto in Italia, mondo dei pro.
L’Italia non aveva grandi organizzatori. Non che adesso ci siano, ma i tempi sono migliori, ci sono le TV che si fanno concorrenza, e allora dentro tutti. Anche se la materia prima scarseggia in fatto di qualità, insomma non c’è molto, ma almeno il pugilato si vede. E comunque, può capitare nel mucchio, come questa sera una sfumatura di elite del nostro pugilato più nostrano. MIRKO VALENTINO.
MIRKO VALENTINO, questa sera con le sue braccia più lunghe può tenere a distanza l’italo/belga, FRANCESCO PATERA, ma le azioni, le varianti possibili sono tante vediamo sul ring…Non si sbilancia VALENTINO.
Penso che l’esperienza dovrebbe aiutare VALENTINO, lui conta di arrivarci sino alla fine e vincere sulla lunga distanza, arrivare vittorioso ai punti.
“Non ho la cattiveria agonistica, non penso al KO. Il mio obiettivo è vincere ai punti.”
Eh già gli dico: “Il KO è più da fuori casa…”
Mi spiega che PATERA è il campione di casa, chi organizza stasera è Cherchi e FRANCESCO PATERA appartiene a quella scuderia, lui appartiene alla Boxe Loreni.
Beh allora fiducia come sempre ai giudici, testimoni superpartes che danno il verdetto. Del resto il fratello di MIRKO è un arbitro della FPI, e gli occhi e il tifo del pubblico sarà tutto per il nostro MIRKO VALENTINO.

Lui porta con sé lo sguardo e l’ironia del disincanto di tante battaglie sul ring, anche se da pro ne ha disputate appena 8. Ha 35 anni, il suo conto è di arrivare a 37 anni e magari riuscire a disputare una cintura di titolo mondiale…
“Chi è il tuo allenatore?” Chiedo al mio preferito di questa sera: ”Raffaele Munno spero di regalargli qualcosa di importante. L’altro giorno mentre mi allenavo, lo vedevo pulire con lo straccio i sacchi…la palestra è una famiglia.”
“Poliziotto e Pugile…”
“In divisa da poliziotto non mi riconoscono. Senza divisa amo vestirmi di colori, le foto le faccio solo in borghese…In divisa non posso rischiare sull’identità di chi mi chiede la foto, nel pubblico c’è di tutto.”
Mi confessa con sincero attaccamento al Corpo di Polizia che oggi è più rischioso fare l’agente, vedi gli agenti a Trieste a Roma…che il Pugile.
Lo blocco: “Ma il pugilato è rischiosissimo di questi tempi, ci han lasciato la vita almeno 5 pugili nell’ultimo anno.”
Lui stempera: “Ah va beh, andiamo bene…Certo, non si gioca alla boxe. Nella boxe si combatte.”
Chiedo a MIRKO: “Ma perché la boxe?”
“Iniziai 20 anni fa, avevo 15 anni. E il mio sogno erano le Olimpiadi, mio padre amava le Olimpiadi e me le ha fatte amare e così sono diventato olimpionico, con quel sogno d’oro in testa. A Marcianise, c’era un vuoto, lasciato da Tommaso Russo, Angelo Musone, eravamo tutti ragazzini che il pomeriggio andavamo in palestra, era insomma il nostro doposcuola. Anche mio figlio di 7 anni, da giugno a settembre viene in palestra con me.”
Non posso far finta di nulla: “In testa alla tua categoria, Pesi Leggeri, c’è VASYL LOMACHENKO …un grande talento.”
“É un predestinato, vincerà sempre.” Non ha dubbi VALENTINO.
“Bella storia quella degli ucraini…”
Ammirato il nostro VALENTINO: “sì LOMACHENKO e poi OLEKSANDER USYK, che fuori classe lo è diventato strada facendo…”
Prima di lasciarlo alla sua concentrazione per questa sera alla conquista del Titolo Europeo dei Pesi Leggeri, mi confessa compiaciuto che suo figlio, sogna grande e anche noi: “Papà a cintura è a nostra!”
“C’era un Valentino nel cinema, un Valentino come stilista, è c’è Valentino Rossi. Quale Valentino ti assomiglia di più?”
“Lo sbarazzino Valentino Rossi.”
“Anche lui come te ama il rischio.”

FRANCESCO PATERA vince ai punti via Unanimous Decision. I cartellini dei giudici hanno stravolto l’evento reale di grande boxe e dove VALENTINO è stato abile combattente. No, non mi ha sorpreso, l’orgoglio italiano di chi ha portato in alto la Boxe Dilettanti non ha sfigurato vs un professionista di lungo corso quale è FRANCESCO PATERA. Anzi devo dire che nel mio personalissimo cartellino, VALENTINO, era sino all’ 11a ripresa in vantaggio sul frustrato PATERA.
Ho visto un match equilibrato, anzi se non fosse stato per quel Knock Down nell’ultimo round, nella 12a ripresa a 30″ dalla fine, il match era nelle mani di VALENTINO. Nonostante le mani fragili non dal pugno pesante.
Ma è proprio il KD, -Knock Down- del belga/italiano che ha risolto. Chi lo infligge, non vuole lasciare dubbi in sospeso… Così PATERA è stato l’Uomo migliore.
Una grande disputa dove VALENTINO ha dimostrato intelligenza, tatticismo, una preparazione atletica superba.
E PATERA si è confermato Campione d’Europa.
MILANO ama VALENTINO e i booo dei tanti napoletani venuti in trasferta e quelli di stanza a Milano hanno echeggiato per tutta l’arena del ALLIANZ CLOUD!

Post Scriptum update this evening October 25th
FRANCESCO PATERA wins on points via Unanimous Decision. The judges’ cards have upset the real big boxing event and where VALENTINO was a skilled fighter. No, it didn’t surprise me, the Italian pride of those who have brought Amateur Boxing up has not disfigured a long-time professional like FRANCESCO PATERA. Indeed I must say that in my personal card, VALENTINO, it was up to the 11th round ahead of the frustrated PATERA.
I saw a close fight, indeed if it hadn’t been for that Knock Down in the last round, in the 12th round with 30″ to go, the fight was in VALENTINO’s hands. Despite the frail hands not heavy-fisted.
But the KD, -Knock Down- by the Belgian/Italian take off all doubts. Whoever inflicts it doesn’t want to leave any doubts… So PATERA was the Best Man.
