ALBERTO FRANCESCHINI:” ragazzate…”

I giornali solo ieri han dato la notizia della morte qui a Milano, a 78 anni dell’ex-terrorista, tra i fondatori delle Brigate Rosse, Alberto Franceschini.

Alberto di Reggio Emilia, iscritto al PCI, si era dissociato dalla Lotta Armata all’inizio degli anni Novanta.

Io lo conobbi nel 1991 all’ARCI di Roma, dove godeva del benefico della semilibertà- feci con lui più intense conversazioni che mi servivano per approfondire il carattere del personaggio della detenuta politica, appunto ex-brigatista.

In quel ruolo di detenuta politica,  ho diretto Fiorenza Marchegiani, che lo interpretò convincente, nel mio film Portagli i Miei Saluti (con questo titolo fu selezionato alla Mostra di Venezia nel 1993), poi il titolo definitivo è diventato TENTAZIONI METROPOLITANE.

Il film, visibile dal 2020 in streaming,  come ho già riportato la RAI lo ha acquisito e tenuto nei magazzini per 10 anni, 1998-2008 impedendone la visione), è ambientato nelle carceri di Milano San Vittore e Opera.

Il mio film ha il merito di aver messo a fuoco molteplici problematiche tutt’oggi rimaste irrisolte. È sopratutto incentrato sulla relazione tra due detenute l’una detenuta politica e l’altra detenuta comune che interpreto io. Due motivazioni tanto distanti, quanto durante gli Anni di Piombo si sono servite a vicenda. Sì mi sono immersa e studiato profondamente quel periodo, il soggetto che mi aveva ispirato non permetteva incongruenze.

Lui Alberto Franceschini protagonista degli Anni di Piombo, anni Settanta, che tanto avevano terrorizzato Milano e non solo, aveva scelto la Lotta Armata, e in quel periodo al potere c’era la Democrazia Cristiana.

E ripetutamente dopo ogni volta che ci vedevamo gli chiedevo: “Perché continuare una guerra e così cruenta nelle città disarmate, e ormai conclusa nel 1945?

Dopo che il mio film fu selezionato da Gillo Pontecorvo per la Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, mi inviò un biglietto di congratulazioni. E lo fece anche tempo dopo presenziando alla proiezione del film al Cinema Barberini di Roma, quella sera continuai con lui quel dialogo, e a quella mia domanda finalmente mi rispose: “Non era altro che una ragazzata.,,I partigiani, i comunisti della mia terra, non hanno mai inteso la fine della guerra. E io li ho immolati continuando.”

La risposta mi deluse, pensavo a qualcosa di più nobile che emulare la morte e distruzione con il terrorismo. Ma non gli dissi nulla. Da allora non l’ho mai più rivisto.

In seguito ho saputo che si era trasferito a Milano e lavorava all’ARCI-Bellezza.

Quando proposi nel 2022 a Book City Milano la presentazione della 2° edizione mio libro in cartaceo IL FIGHTER D’ITALIA GIANCARLO GARBELLI – il pugilato è violento ma la violenza non è pugilato – mia edizione non più di RAI-Eri (i vertici RAI intanto erano cambiati e non intendevano stampare altre copie dopo aver vinto la Selezione del Premio Bancarella 2016, e dunque mi ripresi con un semplice atto legale, i miei diritti d’autore).

Il Comune di Milano che organizza la kermesse di Book City in novembre, mi offri lo spazio di ARCI-Bellezza, dove ha sede la celebre Palestra Visconti.

La Palestra Visconti, adiacente al mio quartiere il Ticinese, è resa celebre appunto da Luchino Visconti nel meraviglioso film, Rocco e I suoi Fratelli, dove la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, l’emarginazione e l’immigrazione da Sud a Nord Italia negli anni ’50 e ‘60 è lo sfondo dove si svolge il film melodramma, con protagonisti due fratelli, di cui uno diventerà Campione di Pugilato.

Non accettai la proposta del mio Comune, trovavo assurdo e volgare, mai avrei potuto condividere il mio libro, in un luogo trasformato da Palestra Visconti dove c’era tra i consiglieri un ex-terrorista, appunto Alberto Franceschini che se pur pagato il suo reato con la Giustizia, non intendevo avere un pubblico di soli compagni comunisti, che si sono appropriati di un luogo del pugilato tanto iconico, quei compagni che non hanno mai smesso di sostenere le gesta di Alberto Franceschini, nulla aveva a che fare con la Cultura Sportiva che propongo.

Del resto a Milano il pugilato sia durante che dopo la guerra veniva disputato nei migliori teatri dell’epoca, oltre che al Palazzo dello Sport e al Velodromo Vigorelli. E così all’ultimo minuto chiesi e mi diedero il Teatro Franco Parenti. E così nelle ultime due edizioni, e nella prossima il Parenti, in una delle sue sale ospita durante Book City, la presentazione di un libro legato allo Sport.

Peccato che la Palestra Visconti che dovrebbe essere un luogo storico della Cultura Pugilistica, perché no, un museo dello Sport, dove potrebbero avere luogo attività inerenti, è stato modificato in un orrendo ennesimo bar… È il caso di dire che Alberto Franceschini ha chiuso in bellezza le sue ragazzate…

Only yesterday did the newspapers report the death here in Milano, at the age of 78, of the ex-terrorist, one of the founders of the Red Brigades, Alberto Franceschini.

Alberto from Reggio Emilia, a member of the PCI (Italian Communist Party), had dissociated himself from the Armed Fight at the beginning of the Nineties.
I met him in 1991 at the ARCI (Italian Recreational and Cultural Association) in Roma, where he enjoyed the benefit of semi-liberty.

I had more intense conversations that helped me delve deeper into the character of the political prisoner, a former member of the Red Brigades.

In that role of political prisoner, I directed Fiorenza Marchegiani, who played the role convincingly, in my film Portagli i Miei Saluti (with this title was chosen at the Venice Film Festival in 1993), which later, the definitive title became TENTAZIONI METROPOLITANE.

The film has been available for streaming since 2020, as I have already reported. RAI, Italian Government TV, acquired it and kept it in warehouses for 10 years, 1998-2008, preventing its viewing.  The movie is set in the real prisons of Milano San Vittore and Opera. (Opera is a village in the neighborhood of Milano)

My film has the merit of having brought into focus many unresolved problems still today. It’s an overall focus on the relationship between two inmates, one a political prisoner and the other a common prisoner, whom I play.

Two motivations so distant, as during the Years of Lead, they served each other. Yes, I immersed myself and studied that period deeply; the subject that had inspired me didn’t allow for inconsistencies.
He, Alberto Franceschini, protagonist of the Years of Lead, the Seventies, which had so terrorized Milano and not only, had chosen the Armed Fight, and in that period, the Christian Democracy was in power.
And repeatedly after each time we saw each other, I asked him: “Why continue a war so bloody in disarmed cities, and now concluded in 1945?

After my film was selected by Gillo Pontecorvo for the Festival, he, Alberto Franceschini,  sent me a congratulatory note. And he did the same some time later when he attended the screening of the film at the Cinema Barberini in Rome, that evening I continued that conversation with him, and to that question of mine he finally answered me: “It was nothing more than a prank…The partisans, the communists of my land, never understood the end of the war. And I immolate them by continuing.”
The answer disappointed me. I was thinking of something more noble than emulating death and destruction with terrorism. But I didn’t say anything to him. I never saw him again.

Later, I knew he had moved to Milano and was working at ARCI-Bellezza. (Italian Recreational and Cultural Association.)
When I proposed in 2022 at Book City Milano, the 2nd edition of my book, IL FIGHTER D’ITALIA GIANCARLO GARBELLI – boxing is violent but violence is not boxing – my edition no longer by RAI-Eri (the RAI top brass had changed in the meantime and did not intend to print other copies after winning the 2016 Bancarella Sport Prize Selection, and so I took back my copyright with a legal act).

The Municipality of Milano, which organizes the event in November, offered me the space of ARCI-Bellezza, where, as he points out, the famous Palestra Visconti is located.
The Palestra Visconti, adjacent to my neighborhood, Ticinese, is made famous precisely by Luchino Visconti in the wonderful movie, Rocco and His Brothers, where the end of the Second World War, the marginalization and emigration from the South to the North of Italy in the 50s and 60s is the backdrop where the film takes place with two brothers as protagonists, one of whom will become a successful boxer.

I didn’t accept the proposal of my Municipality, I found it absurd and vulgar, I could never have shared my book, in a place transformed from Visconti Gym where there was among the councilors a former terrorist, precisely Alberto Franceschini who even though he paid for his crime with Justice, I did not intend to have an audience of only communist comrades, who have appropriated such an iconic boxing place, those comrades who have never stopped supporting the deeds of Alberto Franceschini, had nothing to do with the Sports Culture that I propose.

After all, in Milano, boxing both during and after the Second World War was disputed in the best theaters, and of course at the Sports Palace and Vigorelli Velodrome.

So, at the last minute, I asked and they gave me the Franco Parenti Theater. And so in the previous two editions, and the next, the Parenti Theatre, in one of its rooms during Book City, hosts the presentation of a book related to Sport.

It’s a shame that the Visconti Gym, which should be a historic place of Boxing Culture, why not in a Museum of Sport, where related activities could occur, has been transformed into another hideous bar… It’s a case of saying that Alberto Franceschini ended his pranks in style…
